Edward Staunton West was born in Stuart, Virginia on September 9, 1896. He was educated at Randolph-Macon University, Kansas State College (M.D.), and the University of Chicago (Ph.D., Organic Chemistry, 1923). Chair of the Dept. of Biochemistry at University of Oregon Medical School, 1934-1966. Died in 1988. Charles T. Dotter, M.D., is considered the father of interventional radiology.
